What I Got For Christmas

Hey everyone!

I know this kind of posts are very controversial, but I'm not bragging about what I was given - I'm just letting my followers know what I got this year... and I know it's a bit late now, but I wasn't sure whether to post or not! Anyway, I'll stop rambling...
First of all, I got the Nars Danmari Palette which I have wanted for months!

Top (left to right) Hungry Hearts highlighter, Orgasm, Desire
Bottom (left to right) Casino, Super Orgasm, Sin
I have already used all the colours in this palette and they are all so easy to wear - even for someone as pale as me! I especially love the Casino bronzer for contouring.

The next thing I got was the Marc Jacobs Daisy shower gel.

Daisy by Marc Jacobs shower gel
I love all the Marc Jacobs scents and Daisy was the first one I ever bought. I love the scent and I'm so happy to have the shower gel so I can layer the scents with my Daisy perfume as well. I am really looking forward to using it!

I also got an OPI mini set from the Touring America collection:

Left to right: My Address is 'Hollywood', French Quarter For Your Thoughts, A-taupe The Space Needle, Honk If You Love OPI
I have French Quarter For Your Thoughts on my nails at the moment and I love it! It's such a pretty, light grey which is perfect for this time of year. I can't wait to try out the other three in this little set.

The last thing I got was the OPI Correct & Clean Up pen:
OPI Correct&Cleanup
This is such a good idea because it has such a thin tip, it's so easy to get to the edge of the nail to remove any smudges that have been left from painting the nail. It's also really handy to clean up the cuticle so you get a perfect, crisp line.

That's everything I got for Christmas this year (other than a super soft Gucci scarf) and I'm so happy with everything I got! I'd love to hear what you got, so leave me a comment below? Don't forget to follow the blog with the link on the side and tweet me at www.twitter.com/celestecohen?

Thanks for reading,

NOTD: OPI, French Quarter For Your Thoughts

Hey everyone!

Some of you may have noticed I have been a bit MIA this month. This is partly because I have had so many exams and deadlines and also because I have been away for the past week or so and I just got back today. I will be back on the blog from today so you can expect a lot more posts from me from now on!

Anyway, I have just painted my nails French Quarter For Your Thoughts by OPI. This polish is a pale grey and is part of the touring America collection, which is still available in John Lewis.

French Quarter For Your Thoughts - OPI
Before this, I spent 20 minutes taking off Razzle Dazzle by Deborah Lippmann, which is such a pretty polish, but a nightmare to take off! Then I applied an OPI base coat, two coats of the polish and then a coat of the OPI top coat.
French Quarter For Your Thoughts
I really like the colour of this polish; anything neutral is great for this time of year! I've never worn this polish before, so I'm not sure about how long it will last before it chips, but if it's anything like the other OPI polishes I have, I don't think I'll be disappointed.

Thanks for reading everyone, don't forget to follow the blog with the link on the side of the page and come and say 'hello' on twitter at www.twitter.com/celestecohen!

Let me know what you think of the polish in the comments below? Hope you all had a fab Christmas!

Nicki Minaj For OPI

Hey girls!

Nicki Minaj is bringing out a collection for OPI in spring 2012. Although, I'm not a massive fan of her music, but there are a few nice colours in the line and I am quite looking forward to seeing these colours in real life!

From left to right: Do It On 'Em, Fly, Save Me, Metallic 4 Life, Pink Friday and Super Base Shatter
I don't really like 'Do It On 'Em; I hate anything that's lime green... even limes aren't really that colour! I think 'Fly' is the perfect summery colour because it's so bright and cheerful. I perhaps wouldn't wear it on my fingers, but I definitely wear blues like this on my toes. 'Save Me' is my kind of heaven! I love glittery top coats and this one is full of multi-coloured tinsel! I love this and I wish I had it now, as it's so good for Christmas - who doesn't want to wear this to a party? 'Metallic 4 Life' is just a shimmery silver which isn't totally unique, but it's quite pretty and I'd probably wear it but I won't go out of my way to get this. 'Pink Friday' is nothing special either - although it's a cute bubble gum pink, almost every nail polish brand has made a colour like this, so I'll give this a miss too. 'Super Base Shatter' is another one I like as purple is my favourite colour - especially deep, plum tones! I don't think it's right for a spring collection though - this is more appropriate for an Autumn/Winter collection so I might buy it, but I won't wear it in the hotter months.

Overall, this is a pretty good collection - by all means, get them all, if you're a Nicki Minaj fanatic! But if you're like me, and just like to own nice nail polishes, I'd definitely skip out on a few of these colours.

Thanks for reading! Don't forget to follow the blog and tweet me at @CelesteCohen - let me know your thoughts on the collection in the comments below?

Nail Of The Day: OPI - Warm & Fozzie

Warm & Fozzie
This was my first polish from the Muppets Collection by OPI and I absolutely love it! It's gold and bronze glitter and perfect for this time of year... I can wear it during the day but it is absolutely perfect to wear to a party with an LBD. It makes a real, shimmery statement which is what I want to do when I go out. It only takes 2 coats to achieve an opaque finish and a coat of clear top coat will make it last about 3 days before it starts to chip.

TIP ALERT!! Apply a new coat of clear polish every day to make the polish last longer without chipping. I think this is a fab idea because who needs the hassle of removing glitter polish more often than they need to anyway?

What do you think of this polish? What's on your nails at the moment? Let me know in the comments below - and don't forget to follow! :)

Thanks for reading, girls,

OPI - Haul & My Thoughts!

I only bought three polushes from OPI this time, as I knew I'd be forking out for the MAC Glitter and Ice collection (I have a haul and review coming up soon). One of the polishes is a repurchase - my all time favourite top coat - which I think is a staple. I would much rather invest in a good quality top coat that stops my nail polish from chipping and makes it last longer than buy a cheap and cheerful one which means I have to repaint my nails everyday!

OPI Top Coat
The second thing I bought, I haven't tried before. I decided to get the base coat because I don't always like those pale pink base coats as it doen't always look good under coloured polish. This base coat has a rosy hue to it but is almost clear, which is what  I wanted.

The last thing I bought was Warm & Fozzie from the Muppets collection. I did want Rainbow Connection as well, but they were sold out! This is a golden-broze colour with a metallic finish which has a little bit of glitter in it. This is by far my favourite colour from the Muppets collection and I will be wearing it all winter!
OPI Warm & Fozzie - Muppets Collection
I am so happy with what I bought, and I'll definitely be getting a lot of wear out of these over the coming months - swatches and NOTD with Warm & Fozzie will be coming up soon! Thanks for reading everyone, leave comments below - I'd love to see all your blogs :) xx

October Favourites!

So as it turned to Autumn this month, I was finally able to start using darker colours on my nails and with my make up - which I love! So I have a few of my favourite things from this month to share with you today:

1. Dark nail polish... for a whole week, I had 'You Don't Know Jaques' by OPI on my nails, and today I painted my nails a dark, foresty green which I don't know the name of but it's a Sephora by OPI nail polish that I got while I was in New York a few months ago. I've also been loving navy blue on my nails and I have my eye on the 'Warm & Fozzie' nail polish from the Muppets collection by OPI.

2. Stila Smmudge Stick in Moray... I got this in my October Glossy Box and I have worn it almost every day since. I love this liner because it is such an interesting colour and the forest green and metallic finish is perfect for Autumn. I was also so surprised that the pencil was so long wearing - usually I hate pencils because they don't stay but this one applied like a cream and then stayed all day! I am definitely going to be ordering some more colours, just to make a change from my usual brown and black gel liners.

3. Dior HydraLife Skin Perfect... As it's getting colder and my skin's getting dryer, a good moisturiser has been my best friend! My all time favourite is Dior HydraLife Skin Perfect moisturiser because it is so moisturising but it comes out of the pump like a gel so it's not greasy at all. I use this at night, and it is moisturising enough for me to not need to use it again before I put my make up on the next morning. This is my all time favourite moisuriser but a close second is Bobbi Brown's Hydrating Face Cream - the Dior one wins on smell and texture! This bottle has lasted me about 4 months and I am just running out; I'll be getting a new one tomorrow!

4. Outre by Mac... This mustard coloured eye shadow came out with the Mac Me Over collection and I absolutely love it! I've never seen an eye shadow this colour before and it makes such a unique crease or outer corner colour. I'm so glad I got this as it makes such a change from my usual browns, golds and bronzes. It's also a matte colour which I like because too much shimmer is DEFINITELY too much of a good thing! I hope it will be repromoted or I'll be able to find it online at some point, because when mine runs out, I'll be so upset!

5. BLOGSPOT! If you've noticed that I only have 9 posts (including this one) it's because I only started blogging this month. I've loved sharing my thoughts with all of you and I am so grateful to all the people who follow me or comment or send me emails or tweet me. I will definitely keep blogging every 2 days, like I have been so far and I'd love to know any requests that you might have.

Thanks for reading, everyone - if you have an October favourites post on your own blog, link it in the comments because I'd love to have a look and see what my amazing followers are loving this month :)

Nail Of The Day: OPI - You Don't Know Jaques

This is my first NOTD and I am starting with one of my favourite autumn nail colours: You Don't Know Jaques by OPI.
This is a satin finish nail polish and is a taupe brownish colour with a bit of purple as an undertone. It only needs 2 coats of polish to get a good colour and then finish it with a top coat to give an even glossier finish. MY personal favourite top coat is the OPI top coat.

Nails after 3 days of wear.
I have found that with a good layer of top coat, this polish has great staying power. I've kept this colour on for 3 days and I still haven't had any chipping, which is good; I really can't be bothered to repaint my nails and let them dry every single day! If you paint thin coats, they will be dry to do another coat by the time you've done your other hand, so drying time is quite good too. I find it's best to leave the second coat for 10 minutes for it to get really hard before painting the top coat as that will ensure it doesn't dent or get marks on it and ruin the perfect finish.

I love dark browns and greens for autumn - leafy colours are my favourite, whereas in the summer, it's all about the pale pinks!

This nail polish retails at £10.50 and you can get it here, at John Lewis or at the new OPI store in Westfield, West London, which is called ColourCopia.

What's your favourite autumn nail colour? Let me know in the comments below? :)

OPI - The Muppets Collection

For Christmas 2011, OPI have released a new collection inspired by the Muppets! Although the Muppets was a bit before my time, I love all the films and as a young child, I was obsessed with Animal, Miss Piggy and of course Kermit!

Top (left to right): Animal-istic, Meep-Meep-Meep, Wocka Wocka!, Pepe's Purple Passion, Designer... de Better!, Warm & Fozzie.
Bottom (left to right): Rainbow Connection, Excuse Moi!, Gone Gonzo!, Fresh Frog of Bel Air, Divine Swine, Gettin' Miss Piggy With It!

There are a mixture of fun, bright glitters, reds and neutrals. I think that Rainbow Connection looks a lot like Happy Birthday by Deborah Lipman and a lot of the glitters could be a (only slightly) cheaper dupe for some of the Deborah Lipman glitter polishes.

All the polishes in this collection will retail for £10.50 each. You can get them here or you can go to the new store in Westfield, West London called Colourcopia which sells every single shade of OPI nail polish that opened in September 2011. What do you think of this collection? I think this is probably my favourite OPI collection so far!
